Doing-It-Yourself (DYI) vs. Hiring a Pro Painter (TSI)
While
spending this extra time at home over the last few months I have found myself
looking at projects that I have been putting off. I decided now is the perfect
time to get these projects finished. We have been doing our own overhauls over
here at the TSI home. Some of the projects that we have done are: had our patio
rescreened by Superior Rescreening, our pool pump replaced by Pools by Lowell,
and landscaping revitalized by Brooks Amerson. As you can see here, there is a
common thread….we are using local businesses. During these times it is vital
that we eat, drink, and shop local. I am a proud supporter of our community and
am here to serve you.
If you
are looking to give your home a makeover but are on a budget, painting its
interior is the easiest and most affordable way to go. Giving your few rooms a
fresh shade of paint is enough to elevate the look of your home. This is
something so simple yet makes such a drastic difference in the appearance of
your room.
However,
before you get started, you have to decide if you are to do the painting work
by yourself or you should hire a pro.
Doing-It-Yourself (DYI) vs.
Hiring a Pro Painter (TSI)
Once
you decide to paint your home, the next decision to make is whether you will do
the painting yourself or you will hire a professional painter.
There
are pros and cons to both. So here are some things to consider. Do you have the
supplies you need? When we thinking of painting the first thing that comes to
mind is paint and a brush/roller. Right? We wish it was that easy. However,
there are other supplies that are needed such as rollers, painters tape, paint
brushes, and paint trays. Examples of things to consider are things like; what
type of rollers do I need? What type of paint should I use? What is the best
place to purchase quality paint?
Next up
is prep work! This is needed to make sure that your painting is flawless. The
surface needs to be cleaned to remove any dirt, fill in any holes or cracks and
make sure that you have a smooth surface. Make sure to tape areas such as
baseboards. If you don’t have time or knowledge on how to do the preparation
work, then it will be best to hire the services of a painting contractor.
Also,
if you have never painted before, you may find it hard to do it all by
yourself. This is because certain areas of your home will look better with
certain colors than with others. Also, different types of paints offer different
shades and levels of coverage than others. There are many things about paints
that you will need to know before embarking to paint your home yourself.
Hiring a painter to handle the job guarantees great, flawless results
since they will use the best paint for each room. Overall, you must decide
whether or not you are up to the challenge of painting your home interior.
While going the DIY way may save you money, hiring a professional painting
contractor will save you the hassle and worries, and also guarantee flawless
results. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
